Sylvia Hunt has always been passionately involved in the arts. During her school years she trained in modern and classical dance as well as solo and choral singing. She went on to complete a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts in Dorset before graduating from Bath Spa University with a BA (hons) in Performing Arts.  It was during her training at Bath Spa that Sylvia began exploring physical theatre as a foundation for her multi-disciplinary approach.

In 2012 Sylvia Hunt was assistant theatre manager at The Lyric Theatre Bridport. At that time she was given the use of the theatre space to create Amuse-Bouche! a comedy solo show about our relationship with food, how we gain control through food, how it can be an outlet for our inner demons and a channel for our passions.

During this time Sylvia was also commissioned by Bridport Arts Centre to create cabaret shorts for the Bridport Hat Festival

Amuse-Bouche! was performed at a number of South West theatre venues and in 2013 Sylvia was invited to perform reworked sections of the show at Salisbury Art Centre as part of ICIA PRACTICE.. Amuse-Bouche! Was premiered as a full length piece at the Lyric Theatre in March 2013.

After moving back to Bath Sylvia has continued to develop Amuse-Bouche! with high wired celebrity chef Felicity Staywell becoming the central character.  Felicity has appeared on the streets of Bath at Bedlam Fair ( 2014 ) and also as an auctioneer at 44AD Artspace for a fund-raising auction.

In September 2014 Sylvia created Felicity's Home-bake Helpline! an art installation which consolidated all of her development, research and inspiration. Combining video, installation and live performance this art event was a bold step towards realising her full length show.  Felicity is now hanging up her wig for a few years ( for one reason or another... ), but be prepared for her comeback tour in a few years time.

In Janurary 2015 Sylvia created Cocktails and Dogtails a clown/puppetry sketch which she performed at The Smoking Puppet Cabaret as part of The Bristol Festival of Puppetry.  Cocktails and Dogtail recieved a really positive response, and out of this successful sketch was born the idea for Sylvia's next full length theatre piece Dog Show. (see Dog Show for more info and it's theatrical trailer).  Sylvia was invited to perform Cocktails and Dogtails at the Puppet Place Generator in May 2016 alongside some of the best in the UK puppet industry, not only was it 'hoot' to take part in but helped generate some cash for Puppet Place!

Sylvia is currently touring Dog Show, a clown puppet cabaret which premiered at the Rondo Theatre Bath in March 2016.  After having a fantastic first tour ( see reviews ) Dog Show is soon going back into development before touring again spring/summer 2017.  For more info on Dog Show see its page.

Sylvia is also quietly making plans for her new show, under the working title Tease and Preen.  After a one month residence at 44AD Art Space Sylvia is now currently building towards some Rehearsal and Development on a brand new piece.  A physical theatre comedy, set in a hairsalon in London in the mid 1960's ... Stay tuned ...
