'Unique and wildly Creative'... ' a highly talented and accomplished comedienne and puppeteer'  Theatre Bath 'Dog Show'

Sylvia Hunt has always been passionately involved in the arts.  It was during her training at Bath Spa University that Sylvia began exploring physical theatre as a foundation for her multi-disciplinary approach, also realising she enjoys creating performance work as much as performing it!

In 2012 Sylvia Hunt was assistant theatre manager at The Lyric Theatre Bridport, there she created her first comedy solo show Amuse-Bouche! ( a cabaret style show with a buffet of different eccentric characters exploring how food can be an outlet for our inner demons, and a channel for our passions!)

During this time Sylvia was also commissioned by Bridport Arts Centre to create cabaret shorts for the Bridport Hat Festival

Amuse-Bouche! was performed at a number of South West theatre venues and in 2013 Sylvia was invited to perform reworked sections of the show at Salisbury Art Centre as part of ICIA PRACTICE.. Amuse-Bouche! Was premiered as a full length piece at the Lyric Theatre in March 2013.

After moving back to Bath Sylvia continued to develop Amuse-Bouche! with high wired celebrity chef Felicity Staywell becoming the central character.  Felicity has appeared on the streets of Bath at Bedlam Fair ( 2014 ) and also as an auctioneer at 44AD Artspace for a fund-raising auction.

In September 2014 Sylvia created Felicity's Home-bake Helpline! an art installation which consolidated all of her development, research and inspiration. Combining video, installation and live performance this art event was a bold step towards realising her full length show.  Felicity is now hanging up her wig for a few years ( for one reason or another... ), but be prepared for her comeback tour in a few years time.

In Janurary 2015 Sylvia created 'Cocktails and Dogtails' a clown/puppetry sketch which she performed at The Smoking Puppet Cabaret as part of The Bristol Festival of Puppetry, out of this successful sketch was born the idea for Sylvia's next full length theatre piece 'Dog Show'. (see Dog Show for more info and it's theatrical trailer).  Sylvia was invited to perform Cocktails and Dogtails at the Puppet Place Generator in May 2016 alongside some of the best in the UK puppet industry, not only was it 'hoot' to take part in but helped generate some cash for Puppet Place!

In 2016 Sylvia created 'Dog Show', a clown puppet cabaret which premiered at the Rondo Theatre Bath.  After having a fantastic first tour ( see reviews ) Dog Show unfortuntely came to an end, but it will not be forgotten, and one day the show will rise again!   For more info on Dog Show see its page where you can see the original trailer.

After a brief break from the arts Sylvia came back bursting at the seams with new ideas starting with a new collaboration with Bath Heritage Trust at No.1 Royal Crescent.  'The Housekeeper and the Rat', explored life below stairs at No.1 with Mrs.Bagott the housekeeper, with rats flying out of draws and cupboards this high energy show kept the audiences on their toes!

2019 started with a new cabaret show for grown-ups 'Pop goes the champers!' another comic puppet cabaret with Billy bubbles the dog and his owner Lady Tete de Pisse), and a new family street show 'Billy Bubbles Bath time'. 'Billy Bubbles Bathtime' was made with the support of Bath's Bedlam Fair 'New works work programme' and has been directed by Chris Pirie and Amy Rose. Both 'Billy Bubbles Bathtime' and the 'Billy Bubbles cabaret' are ready for the festival and cabaret circuit, if you've got a doggy themed event coming up do get in touch!
